We provide the calculations, drawings and technical advice needed to keep the structure safe and help satisfy UK Building Regulations. 

Not at all. We assist with projects of all sizes, from a single beam calculation for a kitchen opening to full structural design for a new build property. Every enquiry receives the same professional attention and practical advice. 

No. We are Structural Engineers, not Architects. We take your architect's plans and provide the technical calculations and structural drawings required for the build and Building Control. 

It is not always possible to tell by sight alone. We can inspect the property to determine whether a wall is structural by reviewing floor and roof load paths, joist directions and what is supported above before any work begins. 

Yes. Chimney breast removal requires careful structural design to ensure any remaining masonry is safely supported. We can specify suitable support solutions such as steel beams or approved bracket arrangements where appropriate. 

Yes. For most domestic projects, we provide structural calculations together with clear drawings suitable for builders and Building Control approval. 

Yes. We regularly provide structural design for rear, side and two-storey extensions, loft conversions and general home alterations. 

Yes. We regularly coordinate with homeowners, builders, architects and Building Control to ensure smooth delivery from design through to construction.

Architectural drawings are helpful where available, along with the property address and a brief description of the proposed works. If drawings are not yet prepared, we can often advise based on your plans or arrange a site visit if required.

Our calculations, reports and drawings are prepared in line with current UK standards and Building Regulations requirements. We also liaise with Local Authority Building Control or Approved Inspectors where needed. 

Timescales depend on the size and complexity of the project. Smaller domestic works can often be completed quickly, while larger or more detailed schemes may take longer. We will confirm likely timescales when providing your quote. 

Yes. We hold full Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance for all our design work. 

We are based in Bristol and provide structural engineering services across the South West, including Bath, Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and surrounding areas. We are willing to travel across the UK should you wish to employ our services for projects in more distant locations.
